Baton twirling is a fun sport for all kids! There are events for all skill levels sanctioned by the United States Twirling Association. Athletes may participate in both group and individual events.
Athletes begin by learning basic skills and foundation events. As the twirler’s skill level progresses those skills are combined with dance and gymnastics. A beginning class will be held starting May 29 and will follow the same session schedule as the learning pods found on the calendar page. Participation in the twirling class requires a Starline Light Star baton and USTA membership.
The child in the feature image above went to her first national competition at about ten years old and competed in the Festival of the Future. She was a beautiful twirler! The child in the video below is my daughter when she was ten at nationals. She is the 2007 10 year old champion in both strut and dance-twirl.
Bothmusic and sports can compliment a child’s academic studies and help to provide a well rounded education.
